Our favorite singing Jewish mother takes on the freak out over Syrian refugees, and the general hypocrisy of the right wing on the issue.
In every frame, we see newsy articles that reinforce the hypocrisy of the ‘small government’ party. As an example, John Kasich is calling for a new government agency (reportedly, we have too many of ’em already) to “promote Judeo-Christian values.” There you have it in a teacup. Some don’t understand that this country is not a theocracy, and no ‘reinforcement’ of religious values is necessary or appropriate.
However, if elected officials feel strongly about bringing their religious values to the fore, why don’t they extend a Christian hand and ‘do unto others’ by welcoming Syrian refugees, just as they would hope someone would welcome them. In other words, show us your Christian-Judeo values, or pipe down about it.
Alternately, they can (again) line up behind Bill O’Reilly and shout “Merry Christmas Dammit!” at everyone who wishes them “Happy Holidays.”
