That title isn’t even Colbert sarcasm, it’s from the Michigan prosecutor who made the arrests! Mainstream Militias!
Well… Down here in dumbutt, Texas we can relate to that. Our governor who brags about wanting to secede from the union is about as mainstream as it gets down here.
We have a not a few mainstream militias who used to spend their weekends driving down to the Valley with their assault rifles to patrol – and hopefully get to shoot some Mexicans – but that has fallen off with all the violence down there these days. Now these mainstream Texas Militias mostly stay home, after all, the game is to shoot unarmed Mexicans, not anyone who could possible shoot back.
We also had the mainstream militia the Branch Davidians if you recall. The federal government treated them very poorly. So what the mainstream Davidian militia had sex with 13 year olds and ended up shooting 35 children in the head (from a foot away), what could be more mainstream in Texas than that!
In fact we have had a mainstream militia holed up with children outside of Dallas now for 10 years because authorities are afraid to serve warrants because they may "mainstreamly" do their children in. As long as the warrants are for mainstream stuff and the individuals are only armed mainstream rabid racist lunatics, all is well.
