In Hardball today, Chris Matthews vets an extremely laudatory National Journal article on Sarah Palin. Of course, Matthews is simply impossible, asking for any sort of evidence, other than well-paid opinion from the article’s author, who happens to have his own Palin adviser, WTF? This is where the writer of the paean to partial term governor Palin hits a rather large, deserving and embarrassing snag. For those who simply wish for an opinion, much like you might get from your Tea Party neighbor, taken as truth, this is a satisfying article. For those who wish for a scintilla of fact behind the statements, like Chris Matthews and most of us who live in the real world, the author comes up with a large goose-egg.
I don’t wish to give this article away, as it is full of fun surprises. One well-known statement from John McCain’s frustrated manager was "She just doesn’t know anything!" She then went on to prove that she needn’t know a damn thing to command $100,000 speaking fees from the faithful. Matthews unravels the author of the article until there is nothing but the essential Palin remaining…..an illusion, albeit an expensive and dangerous one if stupidity and arrogance are a lethal combination, and it seems as if we’ve seen that one before.
