A new Tea Party billboard graces downtown Mason City, Iowa, and is sponsored by the North Iowa Tea
Party. The new billboard features a photo of President Obama with the words "Democratic Socialism" over the top.To one side Hitler is pictured with the words "National Socialism", and on Obama’s other side is Lenin’s likeness bearing the words "Marxist Socialism" The billboard replaces one from last fall bearing the phrases "Live Free or Die" with the Communist symbol of a hammer and sickle.
John White, state coordinator of the Iowa Tea Party movement, claims that the official Tea Party does not
approve of such mudslinging, and that similar hand-held signs (which are abundant) are considered
distasteful. While it appears to be business as usual to the average observer, White further claims that
people are tired of slander and mudslinging and the Tea Party doesn’t need to take part in it. They may
not need to take part, but I notice that White hasn’t stated that any action will be taken. Still, there you
have it, the official word on mudslinging. Next, White bends to pick up some mud and sling it.
White says he agrees that Obama has followed several of the same principles as Hitler. He says everything Obama has done is “lock-step” with what Hitler did in his day, but the sign goes into an area
where the Tea Party doesn’t want to be. How odd, the sign goes into an undesirable zone, but White follows
swiftly in the Hitlarian comparisons verbally. Why do I feel that the Tea Party is less than sincere in their
criticism of the billboard picturing Obama, Hitler, and Lenin?
