Coming off their historic loss in 2006 due entirely to the War in Iraq and the hypocrisy of Republican moral values regarding Congressman Mark Foley hitting on male teenage pages, one would think the GOP would lick their wounds and change their tunes. But sadly for them the very definition of what they are will not allow that, conservatives can never change any tune at all, it has been the same old song now sing Mugu sang "Cave #44 or Die" 100,000 years ago. Here follows a long list of the nails the GOP cannot help themselves from pounding into their coffin sealing their fate once and for all:
The Elephant in the Room – They are unable to extradite themselves from George W. Bush’s Forever War.
Family Values Hypocrisy – With Senator Vitter and Larry Craig sticking around through the next election, Americans will be most daily reminded of Republican hypocrisy regarding family values for everyone other than them.
Stem Cell Research – Still on the very wrong side of this one.
No Abortion for any Reason – Still on the very wrong side of this one.
Senator John Warner retiring with the Virginia seat probably going to Democrat Mark Warner.
Senator Pete Domenci retiring claiming he is going nuts giving Democrats a good chance for that seat.
Health Care – On the very wrong side of this with their do nothing plans other than screeching about socialized medicene.
Not Supporting Our Troops – On the very wrong side again. The Senate recently voted 56-44 for Senator Webb’s bill supporting our troops and their families by making sure they spend as much time at home as they do in combat. Republican Senators refuse to give the votes needed to override a George Bush veto to not support our troops.
S-CHIP Veto – So much on the wrong side that it would be the last nail in the coffin if it were not for the transcendence of the next one.
Third Party Candidate – This will be the wooden spike that goes through the center of the coffin and into the heart of the matter. American Evangelicalfascists are threatening to make a Third Party run if Baby Murdering Rudi Guiliani wins the Republican Nomination. This would take 2% to 10% of the vote away from whoever the already vote troubled candidate will be.
This all leaves the GOP with only three winning issues; pounding the fear drum around 911, using an American Gestapo to round up, imprison, and deport Hispanic families, and another even larger and more costly pre-emptive war with Iran.
The 911 protect us from terrorists game is wearing thin on the American public, it no longer holds the power it once did when Americans re-elected a known moron as President a second time.
Because of our parochial nature this roundup, imprisonment and mass deportation of tens of millions of illegal immigrant families has legs. Their problem is though it may well be a short run success to garner the Great White Vote, there is no doubt that the Lou Dobbs and Tom Trancedo crowd has awakened a once dormant but quickly growing Hispanic voting bloc. Hispanics are no longer fooled as to what this is really about. It is now much discussed here in Texas that if they can bring out the vote that by 2012 they can not only turn Texas Blue, but also New Mexico, Arizona and perhaps even Florida. That would so change the political dynamic of America that the only thing we would ever hear from the GOP again would be how unfair the Electoral College is.
At this point it is looking like a new pre-emptive war with Iran may be hard to stop. It is so much of what we are – the War People – that it goes beyond party and ideology. The Israeli Lobby, the Likud and conservatives want it. Neoconservatives and Evangelical Christians are wetting their pants for it while Democrats and the media are going along just like they did 4 years ago. That insurmountable political correctenss of being branded an unAmerican seditious yellow coward traitor works just as well as it did when Mugu was singing patriotic songs out front of Cave #44.
