I’m certain the moral multitude will get back to the ‘job problem’ once they have sent woman’s reproductive rights back to the Stone Age. First things first! No one wants to pay for an abortion for some unknown, whom they assume uses the procedure as an alternative to birth control! It’s safe to say this is the environment in which these budget-slashing lawmakers conceived of HR-3, the ‘No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion’ law.
Ironically HR-3 ‘No Taxpayer funding for abortion" is redundant at best, and harmful at worst. Under current law no federal funding can be used for abortion unless the woman is a victim of rape, or the health of the mother is endangered. Under the new law, obviously the first order of business is to redefine rape. Only provable ‘forcible rape’ would be a legitimate reason, knocking date rape and drugged sex crimes out of the legal window. It would be helpful if you brought video evidence to the trial, as additional evidence that you were not a willing participant.
One last parting shot from the legislators of less involvement in your personal life. The law would not only apply to those who depend upon publicly funded health care. If a woman’s boss receives tax credits for her employment, her personal insurance will be obliged to utilize the same guidelines as those who suffer under HR-3. It’s not a way to eliminate legal abortions entirely, but it’s half way there.
