Forget ‘take your child to work day’ Republicans would have you send your kid to work. Why not? The little rug rats won’t have public schools to attend if Repubs are successful in withholding federal funding from public schools. With nothing else to do all day, the kids might as well help the family out just as they did in the good ol’ bad ol’ days before federal child labor laws were instated. After all, who has more energy than a 7-year-old?
According to the new defenders of the constitution, child labor laws are unconstitutional, as are unemployment insurance, health care, public education, medicaid, medicare, NPR, unions and basically anything they don’t like.
The bill proposed by Tea Party favorite and friend of Glenn Beck Utah Rep. Mike Lee is a similar bill to one considered in Missouri. The bill would repeal federal child labor laws, calling it " an interference with how parents choose to raise their kids." Lee states that the labor laws are unconstitutional, and it should really be up to states to pass rules. Just look at those happy faces in the photo, what right does the federal government have to say children can’t return to those carefree days. Utah Rep. Mike Lee: Federal Child Labor Laws Are "Unconstitutional"
