The success of Republican dominance for a generation has been to avoid talking policy in lieu of crying about political incorrectness or when caught saying something stupid dig around in the past to find some Democrat who did it too, so’s your old lady…
Though this discussion is about how Republican like all the horrid things Donald Trump, Ted Cruz and Mike Huckabee have to say, this piece is the perfect storm of political correctness.
We have the PC police represented by liberal writer Sally Cohn, a women – which seems to be where most if not all PC policing comes from.
Colin Quinn who claims political correctness has destroyed comedy and put standup comedians to death.
And then the wise standup comedian Gina Yashere, a black woman, who gets it right, if you cannot tell your jokes to the people you are making fun of, then you shouldn’t be telling them. HERE! HEAR!
I am a firm believer that political correctness more than any other issue is responsible for the last 30 years of conservative political dominance and. There is no question that it has likened the word “liberal” to NAZI totalitarian fascism which was buried and replaced by “progressive.” Which can mostly be laid at the feet of Rush Limbaugh along with talk radio, Fox News and the support of the media.
For 30 years I cringe every time a Sally Kohn shakes her finger in someone’s face saying you can’t say that. While on the other hand I understand that Sally Kohn and company are usually right but in this case being right only makes matters worse.
The reason I picked this video is the extreme disconnect Colin Quinn is making here, that not being able to offend women and minorities has killed comedy, and standup comedy in particular.
First off it has done no such thing, this is hyperbole in the realm of Donald Trump.
Secondly PC is a matter of words going back and forth, NOT LAW.
But most importantly how stupid he is to use some obscure Amy Schumer PC attack as the basis of his argument.
Hello? Indeed, Amy Schumer is now perhaps the most politically incorrect comedian around, which has made her the most sought after standup comedian, with the biggest show on Comedy Central and with the biggest block buster comedy of the Summer. Gosh Colin, it seems political correctness only adversely affects already unpopular comedians.
How sad it is to see Colin Quinn, Jerry Steinfeld and Bill Maher jump on the Rush Limbaugh right-wing PC wagon when PC is only a political tool to attack liberals, progressives and Democrats without having to argue issues or policy.
