Alan Colmes might have gone over to the dark side of Fox News but it doesn’t mean he’s entitled to speak his mind. Colmes appeared on air with Rich Lowrey, editor of the National Review. The two were discussing a seemingly inevitable bump for Santorum in the polls, when Colmes dared to express the view it might not be a cakewalk depending upon how Santorum’s ‘crazy’ actions are viewed by voters.
Lowry was in attack mode when Colmes began to list just three odd Santorum actions which might impact his electability. Later it would prove nearly impossible to speak through Lowrey’s outrage, although Lowry asked what Colmes meant by the ‘crazy’ things frothy Santorum has done, or plans to do. First of course there is the matter of consensual sex, comparing it to bestiality, incest and bigamy. However, Lowry had a major blowout when Colmes suggested that it is ‘unusual’ to bring a baby dead from birth, home for the other children to see and to ‘play with it.’ Great balls o’ fire – doesn’t everyone? Oh, and there’s that wacky little idea about bombing Iran’s Nuclear facilities – but that’s only a world-wide worry.
Nothing would do but for Colmes to grovel and Tweet an apology to everyone involved, but for a few precious moments it looked as though our abused boy Colmes had grown a pair and felt as entitled as anyone to form an opinion.
