Of course this cartoon, being part of THE MEDIA is just a shot at those who knowingly voted for a crazy buffoon to hurt women and gays. But it also has a more important underlying meaning. Sure they differ in degree but it is the same mindset.
This is how religious cults like evangelical fundamentalists, the Taliban, al Qaeda and ISIS think. Destruction is a better outcome than giving women reproductive rights or gays equal rights.
Polls show that what was once two thirds of Americans being pro choice is now even up. A 20 point drop in just 20 years. But these polls are asking what people say about themselves, not how they vote, or what they want done about it. Today ONLY 19% of Americans [about 50 million] of us want to outlaw abortion for any reasons, you know the ones causing a thousand acts of terrorism and screaming ugly hurtful things to women in front of clinics. Many of whom had safe legal abortions themselves. Hey, it’s okay, they have Jesus on their side, who never said one thing about abortion or homosexuality.
A good way to look at the polling confusion in this is how President Trump changed his views on abortion 5 times in 3 days after he decided to make his run for President from this article from Romper – How many people are pro life?
In 1999, he told NBC’s Tim Russert that he was “pro-choice in every respect,” and when asked if he would ban “partial-birth abortion,” a term invented by anti-abortion extremists to stigmatize late-term abortion, he said no. However, once he decided to run as a Republican, he changed his tune an incredible five times in three days. First, he told MSNBC’s Chris Matthews that women should be punished for having abortions. Then, he issued a statement saying it should be up to the states. An hour later, he issued another statement saying it should be up to Congress. Two days later, he told CBS, “At this moment, the laws are set. And I think we have to leave it that way.” Later that night, he issued a third statement saying he would change the law. So who is actually anti-abortion in the end? A very small minority that probably doesn’t even include the president.
