North Korea is claiming that they successfully detonated their first hydrogen bomb, so Jimmy Kimmel’s crew conducted an experiment with people on the street. One would think that the very idea that North Korea might have an H bomb would be alarming especially to those of us on the West coast, but Jimmy’s crew learned something surprising. It appears that if you ask a question in a cheerful manner, as if it is good news, people will offer congratulations for just about anything!
It occurs to me that the opposite may be true with negativity. When someone like Donald Trump rants, claiming that the President wasn’t born in America, and warns that the country is in the dumpster, some people tend to believe that too, without basing their belief on facts. Like the North Korea bomb, one’s reaction can depend upon the delivery of the news.
P.S. If you’re on Kim Jong-un’s Friends list, you might want to forward some of the high fives, and inspirational wishes from well-meaning, but clueless Americans, then color Kim confused.
