I notice this same kind of thing with Rush Limbaugh quite often. He often plays to satire saying, “They call me a fat loud obnoxious Right-wing liar and slanderer!” But he is a fat loud obnoxious Right-wing liar and slanderer, so you would think his satire fails. But it doesn’t, it works, because his listeners understand that whatever they choose to believe is true.
Now with Ted Cruz the top politician in America, it is hard not to compare him to old Tail Gunner Joe McCarthy of the 1950s. We have a political process named after him, McCarthyism. An ugly form of political slander, libel, name calling, blacklisting and false accusations from a right-wing demagogue making it all about him. And that is not to mention the physical similarities, the speech, the mannerisms and the body language. McCarthyism, other than the Civil War, was the ugliest chapter in American Politics.
I bring this up as a reminder that 10 years ago, Ann Coulter penned a best selling book called TREASON, the gist of which was to rewrite history making a hero of both Joe McCarthy and McCathyism. Why did she write such and obvious book of lies and ugly politics?
Because she is a huckster and shyster ripping off the Republican party for her own self-aggrandizement, ego and to make money.
