Psycho Supermom Lauren Mayer whipped up a little ditty titled ‘Another Day in the USA, Another Mass Shooting’ in response to the San Bernadino massacre, and the almost constant barrage of gun violence in this country.
To give the devil his due, there is no one who is quicker on the draw than Republicans when it comes to sending “our thoughts and prayers” to the families of victims of gun violence. While Democrats called for gun legislation, Republicans tweeted prayers, then voted down a measure that would have blocked a bill that would have stopped people on the government’s anti-terrorist “no fly” list from buying guns. Republican opponents said that the no-fly list includes too many errors to be used for preventing gun sales. Well, thank goodness terrorists will not have their liberties squelched and are still free to purchase guns and ammo legally if they wish. Accessibility to guns for all is important as America moves from the amateur to the professional category in gun violence. We’re at 355 incidents of gun violence this year, which is ambitious for any country that isn’t fighting a war within its own borders.
The sheer number of incidents leads me to question the prayer theory as presented by Fox ‘News.’ Steve Doocy and Elizabeth Hasselbeck proclaimed that ‘prayer is more effective than gun control – and if you disagree with that – you’re lining up with the terrorists.’ Apparently someone is lying about all of those ‘thoughts and prayers’ that Republicans claim to be sending.
