Senate bill 1062, legalizing Religious intolerance and discrimination passed the Arizona House 33 to 27, all but three Republicans voted for it. In the Senate it passed by 17 to 13 with all Republicans voting for the Jim Crow laws. Governor Janet Brewer has 5 days to sign it into law or veto it. She has said she likes the idea of giving businesses the freedom to discriminate against classes of people they hate, but she has issues some aspects of making it a law. She did take the Obama Medicaid money though, so who knows.
It is important to name the two Republican sponsors of the bill who brought it forward. Both GOOD Christians of course, Republican Rep. Eddie Farnsworth in the House and in the Senate by GOP state senator Steve Yarborough.
This same bill has been sponsored by various factions of the Christian community but ultimately was narrowly voted down in most Southern States and not a few Midwestern states where it appeared. This is the first time it passed both houses of Republican held state legislatures.
I am of one mind on this one. PLEASE SIGN THIS BILL GOVERNOR BREWER! What an wonderful trove of fun it will be. Who decides who is gay? The Hostess at the podium? Waiters? Hotel clerks? Does this mean gays will be able to take a dump in the street? Will there be HETEROSEXUAL ONLY signs at water fountains? Back to the days of restaurant sit-ins but with much more flamboyancy! The dogs! The water cannons! Oh the Christianity of it all!
As the cartoon plays it, already some restaurants are putting signs in their windows saying no Republicans will be served because they are boneheads or they look gay to us. It opens the door to comedy sketches and late night jokes like no issue ever before. PLEASE SIGN THIS BILL GOVERNOR BREWER! I BEG YOU. PLEASE.
