I firmly believe that the one person in all of this who truly needs to pound down a beer at the presidential pow-wow, and air her side isn’t invited. She appeared today before cameras. She hasn’t felt safe, but feels the need to get her story out. Hear her side, and listen to the 911 call, at no time does she mention race. In fact, she tells the operator that the two men in question may well live there.
She’s been called a racist, borne the brunt of great criticism, feared for her safety, all for no good reason, other than a lack of information about her and the call she made at the behest of another woman, who obviously isn’t coming out. I wondered as others did, why a "neighbor" didn’t recognize Professor Gates. I’m certain she’d have recognized him if she even lived
in the neighborhood! No one else was going to say that.
Eugene Robinson joins Howard Dean to discuss the difficulties of racism, and in this case perceived racism, misunderstandings, and the importance of talking to one another, and listening as well. He raises the interesting and provocative question of why there are no moderate Republicans weighing in. We might get to an understanding a great deal more quickly without the hatred of pot-stirrers on the airways. On display and full cry are Glenn Beck and other idiots jacking their jaws about Obama’s fabricated "Problem" with white people. He is being called angry and racist when nothing could be more preposterous. The people closest to him, and most influential in his life were the two white grandparents who raised him. It isn’t difficult to realize who is angry and racist, it’s time to muzzle
them. Surely they’ve gone beyond the bounderies of freedom of speech in many of their tirades. We have already experienced violence by devotees of these pigs. Perhaps our first step in a meaningful dialogue would be to turn off the static of hatred. As Rackjite has suggested, it’s time to pull the plug on their sponsors. The sooner it’s done, the more lives will be saved.
