The (now) 18-yr-old woman nicknamed Ruby lamented that she has been "treated as a prostitute by all the Italian and foreign media." You can certainly see why she would take umbrage after having her good name,(and her nickname) bandied about in the Belusconi ‘Bunga Bunga scandal.
"I want to be compensated for having been hurt so much, and all the gold in the world would not be enough," Ruby, whose real name is Karima el-Mahroug, wrote to the AP in Italian.
Indeed, nothing is more important than having her good name cleared of all implications that she might be a prostitute. In that light, it was odd that she chose to add: "I don’t do anything for nothing," Ruby added to explain her request of $20,340 for a full TV interview from the AP.
