Here is perhaps the best put downs from Real Time with Bill Maher since Chris Rock asked Ann Coulter if she was fking President Bush, General Lawrence Wilkerson says he doesn’t doesn’t need his guns for self defense, gun enthusiast Emily Miller tells the General that if he doesn’t need his guns anymore she will buy them, his response, “I wouldn’t sell my guns to you.”
The gist of it, which the General hit on the head, is that like most normal human being who owns guns, it is to hunt rather than being constantly consumed with needing to shoot and kill intruders crashing into his home. In fact the only argument I have heard for assault rifles with high capacity magazines is for when large groups of criminals do come crashing into your home. Well other than having to kill our troops and police under the control of an uppity black man or even worse, an uppity “witch.”
SIX IS ENOUGH is the best idea in reducing the carnage from assault rifles I have come up with so far. Revolvers and shotguns go off the table immediately. Make any magazine that holds more than 5 rounds illegal, with a simple spot weld to take care of existing ones. Subsidize both an exchange and spot weld program. If caught with a larger magazine lose your right to bear arms for five years. It’s the only viable solution I can come up with for our assault rifle problem. Though Bill Maher did hit on the cultural solution. Don’t make gun enthusiasm a virtue, because it isn’t, rather it is a combination of fear, paranoia, anger, macho, hate and violence which are all examples of the dark side of humanity.
After all who needs more than six shots?
Hunters who kill for the kill rather than the sport.
Islamic Terrorists to kill as many people as possible at one time.
Asocial single white males to kill as many children as possible at once.
Gun enthusiasts who expect more than six Negroes to be soon crashing through their front door to steal their trailer jacks.
I mean even ganstas and drug dealers don’t use them as they are too big to pocket.
Oh and here is the cover of Emily Miller’s book:
