Dezmond Blake called police to say he found a baby in his freezer. Sure enough, after police arrived at a weekly-rate Houston motel they found 6 month old Devin (surname unknown at this time) in the top freezer section of the motel room refrigerator. Blake, an African American male and father of the child, was about a year late with the call.
It was soon discovered that Blake and the mother, Crystal Sosa, had put the baby in the freezer a year ago. The only information from the couple thus far is that the child died of natural causes.
The mother had been arrested and put in jail for prostituion about the same time the baby went into the fridge. She had also lost another child to Child Protective Services testing positive for drugs. The father has also had run-ins with the law. Well he has a prior record of evading arrest so I suppose that would be considered a run-outs with the law.
The couple used the freezer daily, Devin was in a gym bag. Both parents are presently in jail charged with evidence tampering. HPD: Dead baby left in motel freezer for one year
