Brian Williams, news anualyst extraordinaire, rapper, raconteur and all-round bon vivant shares a recent plus side to the government shut down last fall. Williams and others have observed that federal workers were left with spare time during the shut down, and only now is it becoming apparent how many of them chose to use it.
Quoting WJLA in Washington:
More babies are delivered at Sibley Memorial Hospital than at any other hospital in the District. But in the past few days, the hospital has gotten even busier. The staff at Sibley attributes the burst in babies to the government shutdown during the first two weeks of October. It is now two weeks into July, even I can do the math.
Williams makes a sly but astute observation. “How long until someone on television points out that during the shutdown the folks in Washington are apparently doing at home what Washington has been accused of doing to the American people? We’re guessing someone will say that on television before long.”
I believe he just did…You sly dog, Brian.
