Stephen Colbert took note of Donald Trump, who thought he was having a very bad week when all he had to worry about was the fallout after tweeting an unflattering photo of Ted Cruz’s wife, and repercussions from his brute of a campaign adviser roughing up a reporter. We all know Trump’s week got a great deal more trying and it became enjoyable – if you’re not Trump.
Trump defended himself for posting the tweet by saying “I didn’t start it.” That was his sole defense given to Anderson Cooper, who rightly pointed out that the defense was in the five-year-old zone. Cooper’s accusation which was met with great orange umbrage. I can only imagine how the words “He started it” will smooth over a nuclear escalation.
After hearing of Trump’s nasty, bad, awful week, Stephen Colbert wanted to hear Trump’s version. But because Trump has already devolved into a cartoon parody of himself, Colbert welcomed the actual Cartoon Donald Trump to the stage for a short interview.
Among other things, we now know that Trump’s main man was not overreacting. The reporter and her pen posed an actual threat to the very life of Donald Trump! He is terrified of pens. Just like the flesh and blood Trump, Cartoon Donald claims he was in danger. Would you have him attacked with a bomb or a gun, or maybe she’d have used it to stab or just maybe she’d have used it as a pen to write down the idiotic things he said? True to form, this Trump didn’t neglect his duty to threaten those who hurt him, saying “I’m rubber, you’re glue, I have a lawyer and I’ll sue!” I’m looking forward to Trump’s return to Stephen’s show, perhaps he’ll finish the interview. There is lots of material including his fumbled pro-life interview with Chris Matthews, and his enthusiastic advocacy of abortions on the Howard Stern show. Who are you going to believe – Donald or your lyin’ ears?
