CINO – Christian In Name Only, Ron Paul and Osama

“We must respect the other fellow’s religion, but only in the sense and
to the extent that we respect his theory that his wife is beautiful and
his children smart.” H L Mencken’s

Much of the story regarding the primary debates has been the audiences booing, applauding and giving standing ovations. These audiences are for the most part made up of THE REPUBLICAN BASE, better known as Evangelical Christians.

Perhaps the ugliest example was when they booed an active combat soldier in Afghanistan because he said he was gay. The instances of foot stomping ugliness has been directed at immigrants, liberals, media, blacks, Hispanics, and what have you. But it was the South Carolina audience that was not surprising the worst of the bunch.

It began with Juan Williams getting booed for  what Republicans call "Race Baiting" or what non Republicans call pointing out the racism inherent in the Republican Party, the South and specifically South Carolina. The booing was not as boisterous as the cheering – and one standing applause – for Newt Gingrich who doubled down on his recent accusations that African Americans as lazy, jobless, food stamping complainers whose children should be cleaning toilets. It was the toilet one that got the standing ovation from the good Christians of South Carolina. And caused Gingrich to soar to the top of the pack.

Talking heads have informed us that in the same debate Ron Paul made the ultimate mistake and can no longer be taken seriously because he wants to pull out of all our wars, not start a new war with Iran, and suggested it may have been better to capture Bin Laden than to murder him in his bedroom with his wife watching.

So let me ask…

1) Should we capture THE ENEMY, charge them, try them and if found guilty execute them?

or…

2) Should we sneak into THE ENEMY bedroom while he is unarmed and with his wife and shoot him in the eye?

Now hold it…

I want the Christian answer. You know, the answer Jesus Christ would choose. The answer Jesus sacrificed his life for, the answer he preached throughout his life.  The answer that reflects the forgiveness, mercy and compassion which is the bedrock of Christianity.

An easy test to separate the CINOs – Christian In Politics Only – from the real thing.
