The kicker here is that Monsanto has 93% control of the American seed business. Or of the American food business. Kind of like Denmark having the hydro marijuana seed business. Though one is much more fun than the other.
This, like the NSA and privacy, is another issue I can’t seem to get too excited about. You can’t fight technology. It’s a losing battle.
I don’t know too much about genetically modified seed and foods, but I would think it best to curb the problem by making the seeds hold much shorter patents. Maybe we can’t stop them, but we can chip away at their power. And there is the issue that these modified seeds produce far far greater yields, and we have 7 billion people to feed already. And growing. So come on liberal Pope Francis, get on this population issue. It’s long overdue
But the privacy issue is lost. Not only the technology defeats it, but our ever growing collective attitude to put everything about ourselves online feeds it.
