A NEW hate crime bill was passed by the House this week. It expands existing legislation to add heavier sentencing in assault and discrimination crimes to include homosexuals, transgenders and the handicapped. 175 Republicans (and a few Democrats in the heart of Dixie) voted against it. These congressman and women represent the good Christians across America who enjoy hurting others so very much. Republicans must defend their Republican Base who have nothing better to do on a Saturday night than nail a fag to a fence, drag a queen behind their pickup truck or take a baseball bat to an atheist in the wheel chair. Moderate Republicans beyond the base are also up in arms that they may get extra punishment for denying the constitutional rights to others.
This week we also witnessed a GOP meltdown over President Obama using the term empathy in making his choice to replace Supreme Court Justice Souter.
With the Republican Party tries desperately to change their image rather than now proven failed ideology, their screams that empathy is goofy and hate crimes are not so bad fits right in to their marketing program. Which seems to be directed by Charles Manson and Michael Savage.
They say the empathy statement is a code word for appointing someone who is pro choice on abortion.
Speaking of code words here are a few not talked about much.
Republican Base – The Right-wing Fringe (Tea Party Wingnuts)
Socialism – White tax money going to bring black children out of poverty.
Southern Heritage – Slavery, Jim Crow and racism
