What a mortifying thing to have happen! The mother in the ad doesn’t look as though she is careless with personal items. Perhaps she hides them, and trusts children won’t discover her best hiding places. As bad as this experience would be, how much worse if the kids had found a gun instead of dildos? Love it or hate it, this is a terrific ad – there’s no way you will forget it.
Maybe you do lock your gun(s) away safely, but do your children’s playmates live in homes where all of the guns are safely stowed and locked from prying little fingers? As a former kid, I know that there is no cupboard too tall, no ‘secure hiding place’ that is out of reach for a resourceful kid – and they’re all resourceful!
The Young Turks discuss the number of children who die due to finding guns – a completely preventable tragedy. We went crazy – and rightly so when 20 children perished at Sandy Hook. In the following year alone, 100 more children died from accidental gunfire. Adult paranoia has made guns more accessible and numerous in many homes. I hope this video makes you smile, but even if you feel it’s tasteless, I hope even more that you’ll secure all weapons behind lock and key – at all times… it might be a good policy for dildos too.
