Seth Meyers takes a closer look at how President-elect Donald Trump might govern, using clues from his chaotic transition. The transition has been called an ugly knife-fight, in which posts are handed out like lollipops to the ‘good’ – meaning the loyal and often the monstrous. Playing hide and seek with our puzzled allies, is diverting, but there’s just so much actual work to do! I love that Trump told Britain’s P.M. Theresa May to “give him a call” if she’s ever in the U.S.. I used to think he was unqualified, now I don’t believe he’s ever seen the role of President played on TV..
There is reason to suspect that Trump and son Barron pulled a ‘Freaky Friday’ switch, a preposterous idea that you may soon find to be credible. Seth looks at all of the alternatively hilarious – and yet frightening details of the Trump takeover. Concerned that Trump is likely to trample constitutional rights as promised, the ACLU issued a strong warning, which reads, in part:
“Should President-elect Donald Trump attempt to implement his unconstitutional campaign promises, we’ll see him in court.”
I love and support the ACLU, and it’s telling that they’ve grown ‘hugely’ over the past week. However, the threat to take Trump to court may not strike the right chord in this case. As Seth remarked: “Trump is to courtrooms what Norm was to ‘Cheers.’
