I have only found one universal truth. 100% of those who have predicted the end of the world have been 100% wrong 100% of the time.
Last night I decided to watch a bunch of episodes of DOOMSDAY PREPPERS. I had just lost a stupid argument with my wife and needed to watch something that would make me feel a lot smarter than I really am. I had clicked by it on occasion but this was the first time I got INTO IT. I watched two hours of it.
The crazy, the paranoia and the guns go without saying, but I found an unexpected theme running through most of the shows which caught me off guard. Crazy, paranoid, guns, and killing and EATING your neighbors. It’s what the guns are for. Of course it is, it just never clicked in before.
One even joked about “neighbor jerky.” As I watched these mentally ill people with far more ammo than brain cells I found it both funny and entertaining, especially how badly they want to show themselves on TV as the paranoid crazy gun loons they are. But as soon as the first family with children came into it, it lost the humor. Pushing this degree of violent mental illness upon children is unconscionable.
The producers of the show on the National Geographic channel – owned by Rupert Murdoch – rates each family at the end of each show They use a 1 to 20 point awarded in 5 categories. Of the half dozen or so shows I watched, the producers gave all of them very low scores on SECURITY, or guns and firepower. Even though these families had more guns than Glenn Becks dried beans, it was still NOT ENOUGH GUNS. After all, you never know how many neighbors you will have to kill and eat after Obamacare kicks in.
As I watched and hear more and more about eating ones neighbors I assumed all of these nutcakes read, well reading isn’t part of that culture, saw the most depressing end of the world movie THE ROAD by Cormac McCarthy.
Even more depressing was seeing the trailers for a new spin off coming soon to NatGeo. A running reality show of a family of hunks and hotties with guns building a fortress to kill and eat their neighbors. Doomsday Castle
To top the evening off I decided to try watching a TV series all at once. So I queued up a Sci Fi series called Falling Skies from TNT network. I only watched the pilot before I just could not stand it any more. I mean really… Gosh… Guns everywhere in every scene. Every kind of gun you can imagine, constantly being carried, fired, loaded, swung about, cleaned and above all, clips being slapped in and clips being slapped out. Constant backgrounds of guns and ammo belts and magazines in constant motion, all guns all the time. I have never seen anything like it. And then I realized that the most popular series on TV are the same. Whether it be aliens or zombies, it’s constant guns with over sized magazines all the time. No wonder we are the most violent gun culture on Earth. Well besides Afghanistan and Somalia. So we are at least in good company…
Oh and with religion? We are up at the top of the heap with the Muslim theocracies and sub Saharan Africa.
