For what it’s worth, my experience has been that the heaviest drinking in America by county is shared by Winnebago County in Wisconsin (Oshkosh) and Monroe County in Florida (the Keys). Were by sheer chance I spent some 10 years of my life. In fact I never heard the terms “Let’s go for coffee” or “Let’s do lunch” until I was well into my thirties on a business trip in Connecticut.
But you may ask how can you “Let’s go for a beer” before Noon? Well most people in Oshkosh and the Keys don’t get up early enough for that to matter. And even if they do, it takes three Excedrins, several cups of coffee and not a few hours to take the edge off from the night before.
