“A child born today will grow up with no conception of privacy at all.” William Snowden
Well there you have my spin on this issue. Facebook changed me on this. Over a billion people are happily BY CHOICE giving their private information to everyone in the world, including the government. To that process add the ever growing snoop technology and there is no going back. It is a done deal that Mr Snowden got right in that quote.
So my question is why give up your citizenship and have to live the rest of your life looking over your shoulder in Ecuador for something you have already decided there is no chance of changing? There is no coming back for Edward, he could very well be executed for treason back here.
And besides that, there is the politics of it. Banging their heads against the wall, Snowden and Greenwald together have caused over a 20 point drop in President Obama and the Democratic Party poll numbers from those 18 to 35, helping put the GOP in the generic lead in both 2014 and 2016. Since this story broke – along with the Obamacare website issue – the Republicans have enjoyed an overall gain in the generic polls from a few months ago losing 50 to 42 in favor of Democrats to now a complete turnaround going to favor Republicans 49 to 44. Snowden and Greenwald could very well be the two people most responsible for giving the Senate to the GOP in 2014 and to the White House in 2016.
Here’s a question for you? Who would you rather have listening in on your phone?
The NRA?
The Government?
Dow Chemical?
The Koch brothers?
Ted Nugent?
You see, there is recourse and oversight on only one of those entities.
