Police forced a New Mexico man, David Eckert, to endure an anual cavity search, three enemas and a colonoscopy, as a result of a routine traffic stop.
Officers assumed he was carrying drugs because – as they said, he was ‘clenching his buttocks,’ hiding drugs. The officers then obtained a warrant to search his anual cavity for drugs. They then took him to a hospital in Gila after a local doctor refused to perform the requested procedures calling them ‘unethical.’
An X-ray taken by staff at Gila Regional Medical Center was clear, but he was still forced to undergo three enemas and ultimately a colonoscopy. Mr. Eckert is suing the city of Deming and several police officers, accusing
local police of unreasonable search and seizure, and the hospital and doctors of negligence.
Adding insult to extreme injury, Eckert was billed by the hospital! The hospital was out of the jurisdiction of the warrant the Anal Cavity Cops had obtained.
It’s fair to say that The War on Drugs has escalated, while our right to privacy, dignity and essential freedoms are in serious peril. The initial, unbelievable incident occurred on Jan. 2, 2013, needless to say, we’ll be watching the trial.
