The Grace Community Church, one of the largest megachurches in the land, is planning to build two gigantic Christian crosses on the North and South entrances to Houston, Texas.
The crosses will be built upon present Grace Church property along Interstate 45. Pastor Steve Riggle explains the crosses will be 200 feet tall and will include enclosed prayer centers. Pastor Riggle, obviously no relation to Rob Riggle of the Daily Show, says he hopes to see other churches in the area take his lead and erect more gigantic crosses until all of Houston is "Marked for God!" Church wants 2 giant symbols to bear witness
In this mornings’ Houston Chronicle this story sits aside the story of the University of Houston (and other regional colleges) raising tuition costs out of the reach of evermore students.
The crosses are being well received here, especially the prayer enclosures which will give every Dumbuttian a place to go to cling to God anytime of day or night and in any weather!
The recent Supreme Court decision along with the Joe Horn grand jury No Bill for shooting people in the back has already given all Texans the added joy of clinging to their guns. These new crosses will only add to better clinging all around. After all, Guns and God wisely compensate for lack of education and common sense.
But the biggest benefit is that if I stand on my roof here I think I will be able to see the one they are going to build down here on the South entrance to Houston. I will soon be living in the actual shadow of God!
