Yes friends, there is proof that God exists, and that Texas IS as important as they’ve long felt, because they host God’s official law firm. Who knew?!!
Somewhere in Omaha I believe there is a cadre of senatorial aides in a locked room, laughing their heathen asses off, or – there is a bolt of lightening heading straight for my head.
Last week, Senator Ernie Chambers of Omaha – an agnostic who frequently speaks out against Christians, was trying to make the point that we have too many frivolous lawsuits, and that "anybody can sue anybody." To make his point he sued God, "seeking a permanent injunction against the Almighty for making terroristic threats, inspiring fear and causing widespread death, destruction, and terrorization of millions upon millions of the Earth’s inhabitants."
One of two court filings from "God" came Wednesday under "otherworldly circumstances", according to John Friend, clerk of the Douglas County District Court in Omaha. "This one miraculously appeared on the counter. It just all of a sudden was here – poof!" Friend said. "Poof!" I love that. How ELSE would the Deity deliver a response? The Almighty has an excellent law firm and delivery system, "Poof" is possible. Really, I ask you would faithful clerk Friend fib?
It was not said whether Chambers had turned in his "Agnostic For Life – Maybe?" button, but one gets the impression he believes there was no other access to his desk.
What did the Almighty say? Not so, says "God". His response argues that the defendant is immune from some earthly laws and the court lacks jurisdiction. It adds that blaming God for human oppression and suffering misses an important point. "I created man and woman with free will and next to the promise of immortal life, free will is my greatest gift to you." according to the response, as read by Friend, who may have exercised a little free will of his own.
There was no contact information on the filing, although St. Michael the Archangel is listed as a witness, Friend said.
I don’t know about you, but this sounds fishy to me. The All Knowing did not even address the spate of frivolous lawsuits, other than in the broad concept of free will. It seems he could have given a little free and more specific advice.
A second response from "God" disputing Chamber’s allegations lists a phone number for a Corpus Christi law office. A message left for that office was not immediately returned Thursday.
OY! Texas seems a little impressed with itself. Now they can lay claim to being THE official law office of God!
Don’t even try, the Senator is not answering calls.
