Seth Meyers examines whether Donald Trump’s competition can grab a piece of the media spotlight as the presidential race heats up, and reveals why polls aren’t a reliable method of predicting the outcome of a political race.
Donald Trump has proven to be a master of generating free media attention, while his competition spends millions with underwhelming results. While this isn’t news, it does say something about how we’ve changed. Seth shows the five seconds of video that sank Howard Dean. Compare it to the months of offensive, obnoxious Trump we’ve seen daily, and explain it if you can, please.
Finally, it looks as though some of Trump’s most enthusiastic supporters feel that clicking on ‘like’ is enough. Trump fans may not be able to work voting into their schedules. As Trump prepares to pour more of his own money into the campaign, he recently put his people on notice, telling them to vote ‘even if they feel horrible.’ To the ladies he snarked; “even if you’ve caught your husband cheating the night before” (you must vote). Like a mother with a black-belt in guilt, Trump glowered; “If I don’t win, I will consider this a total and complete waste of time.” ‘I do this all for YOU and you don’t appreciate it’ was unsaid, but it was there, I tell you!
