While John F. Kennedy inspired us to greatness, the 2010 GOP inspires us to nothing but petty politics, name calling and a kick in the pants to everyone making less than $250, 000 a year (after deductions.) GOP Priorities.
A Gift From Long Ago By BOB HERBERT
I don’t think he would have known what to make of the America of today, where the messages coming from the smoldering ruins of public life are not just uninspiring, but demeaning: that we must hack away at the achievements of the past (Social Security, Medicare); that we cannot afford to rebuild the nation’s aging infrastructure or establish a first-class public school system for all children; that we cannot bring an end to debilitating warfare, or establish a new era of clean energy, or put millions of jobless and underemployed Americans back to work.
Kennedy declared that we would go to the moon. Chris Christie tells us that we are incapable of building a railroad tunnel beneath the Hudson River
The hero of the old guard GOP is New Jersey is governor Chris Christie. The RNC says he can win the White House for them in 2012! Why has an obese New Jersey Governor gained so much admiration and respect from the Country Club Republicans? Specifically he is adored for putting a nix on a job creating, infrastructure rail system under the Hudson River that would be a boon to New Jersey, New York and the nation.
The decision to stop construction of the project, known as Access to the Region’s Core, could cost the state $3 billion that was pledged by the federal Department of Transportation for new transit projects, and some or all of an additional $3 billion commitment from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. The state was responsible for the balance of the project’s total cost, which had been estimated at $8.7 billion
No it isn’t just that one act of great inspiration and leadership, but also his attack on teachers, unions and removing a billion dollars from education budget. After all, if we learned anything in this last election cycle, it’s that the more education we give our children the less likely they will vote for Republicans. Let me find my blackboard so I can better explain this vast conspiracy that will destroy America!
And besides Governor Christie and the entire GOP are only doing what Jesus would do. Remember the great parable.
"And I say unto you, a rich man with a pack of camels will pass into heaven after he sticks a needle in the eye of a poor man." Jesus Christ of America
