The weeks long screeching about the racist statements of Senator Harry Reid and Bill Clinton – saying they are no different than Senator Trent Lott – only abated when the biggest tragedy in the history of the Western Hemisphere took place in Haiti.
The real story behind that is the picture it gives us of how the media, Fears the Freeper! [I use the nickname of those foul wingnuts at Freerepublic.com who make the Tea Parties seem tame]
The so called racist remarks from Senator Reid and President Clinton that saturated the world came from a new tell all book GAME CHANGE and taken to the headlines by Fox News and talk radio.
We expect and accept such from the likes of fair and balanced FOX NEWS, the WSJ, the NY POST and the WASHINGTON TIMES. But why did the mainstream media such as CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS and MSNBC pick it up to play it to hundreds of millions around the world?
FEAR. Fear of losing share to FOX NEWS. In fact cable news has become obsessed with FEAR of losing share to FOX NEWS which has more viewers and makes more money than all the other cable news networks combined. And growing!
"The US is ready to embrace a black presidential candidate, especially one such as Obama – a light-skinned African American with no Negro dialect unless he wanted to have one." Senator Harry Reed 2008.
Harry Reid has spent a good share of his life promoting civil rights. What he was saying there was that Obama is a great candidate who he wishes well and that he can win because he doesn’t talk Ebonics and is light skinned enough to not scare the bejesus out of our womenfolk. Not racist at all, just the truth from an old man using the word Negro.
"A few years ago, this guy would have been getting us coffee." Bill Clinton to Ted Kennedy during the Hillary/Obama primaries.
This is even more absurd. Bill Clinton who until last year was considered the "black president" by blacks around the nation and who has a full resume of promoting civil rights was telling Kennedy that Obama had so little experience, had paid so few dues, and was so naive he would be getting us coffee a couple years ago. NO RACIAL INTENT at all and we all know it. Kick! Race Pages.
So the media took those quotes which we all know damn well are not racist or from racists and likened them to a real live racist in Trent Lott, who was forced to resign as Senate Majority Leader (by Republicans) and subsequently retire from the Senate to become a lobbyist.
"When Strom Thurmond ran for president, we voted for him. We’re proud of it. And if the rest of the country had followed our lead, we wouldn’t have had all these problems over the years, either."
Mississippi Senator Trent Lott who has a well documented history of backing segregationists, racist front organizations and raising and waving that confederate flag wherever he can, was clearly saying that racial integration was a mistake, that our American system of apartheid was preferential to giving basic human and civil rights to blacks and that had we held on to Jim Crow we would not have the "black" problem we have today. CLEARLY THAT IS WHAT HE WAS SAYING, WHAT HE MEANT AND THERE CAN BE NO DENYING IT.
So the main stream media tells us these things are all the same no matter that we all know they are not.
So why does the media do it? The same reason they pretend the Tea Party movement is just a group of well meaning independent minded Americans concerned with fiscal debt when in reality they are an all white gang of liberal hating right-wing gunloons who hate having an African American in the White House as much as they do anyone than they are – which is the basis of Sarah Palin’s popularity. [The above sentence has been declared fair and balanced under Fox News criteria]
About a third of Americans are racist right-wing lunatics who per capita – because of low educations and intellectual disabilities which cause them to be more susceptible to advertising – buy more Ford trucks, GEICO and PROGRESSIVE insurance for those trucks, Budweiser to drink in their trucks and of course Hostess products which adds to the the gross weight of the – than all the rest of us combined. If the media upsets these honky peckerwood trailer trash toothless hillbillies working on their GEDs, they go off to FOX NEWS if they already haven’t. [The above sentence has been declared fair and balanced under Fox News criteria] Kick the Corporate Bias Media pages
