Long before Trayvon Martin’s tragic shooting, it was long past time to free the hoodie from its reputation as sinister headgear. I’m not certain that well-meaning politicians wearing them will achieve that goal, but you’ve got to applaud them for trying.
Comedian Deon Cole wants to remind people that hoodies have long been worn both by ordinary people and as as iconic headgear for the famous. Most of all, Cole wants to offer hoodie wearers protection from those who still see a threat beneath each warm snugly hoodie. With his two-step program you too will be safe in any white, gated community in this country!
