Houston’s silly Tony Black Explains Cinco de Mayo

I first want to take this opportunity to make sure we all understand what is driving this law in Arizona. There is no federal "immigration reform" – nor will their be before the election – because of one overriding issue. The BIG government hating, freedom and liberty waving Republicans want all 10 million illegal immigrants torn from their families by any and all police agencies then taken by van, bus, truck and train to be concentrated in prisons surrounded by barbwire fences created to hold entire families. And then be deported by van, bus, truck and train back to their place of birth. That is what this is all about. One could remind these ugly white people that Ronald Reagan promoted "immigration reform" in 1987 and gladly signed the bill to give all 4 million illegal immigrants amnesty by what became known as Green Cards. Try and tell that to Ronald Reagan worshiping Republican! Gosh…  Republicans have no choice but to be revisionists.

Quite often – especially when one listens to talk radio or watches Fox News where there is no chance for response – we find that most wrong headed conclusions from the Right are arrived at because either the premise is false, it’s a matter of apples and oranges or it’s a slippery slope of futuristic fantasy.

Here is a letter to the editor this Sunday – which the 4th largest newspaper market in America choose to run – that so well proves the point.

Mexican holidays [link]

Thank you, Oscar Casares, for explaining Cinco de Mayo (“Holiday of Cinco de Mayo is minor event in Mexico,” Page B9, Wednesday). I don’t celebrate it or any other Mexican holiday, but it’s good to know why the bar owners get so excited on this date. The op-ed asks why we celebrate Cinco de Mayo instead of Dieciséis de Septiembre, which Casares explains is a much more celebrated holiday in Mexico.
My question to him is this: Why should we celebrate any Mexican holidays in the U.S.? This is not Mexico. Do Mexicans in Mexico celebrate July Fourth?
Tony Black, Houston

Following Tony’s reasoning we find not only a false conclusion arrived at from a false premise, but also a case of apples and oranges. The conclusion should read that Americans in Mexico celebrate the July Fourth. Also note how interested Tony is with Mexican culture! Tony! What should we do with the 10 million illegal immigrants already here?  What Ronald Reagan would do? Or what JD Hayworth would do?
