John Oliver highlights the week and the good news is that the underwhelming campaign of Jeb Bush is over – because like John – I don’t want to feel sorry for the guy, and I simply couldn’t help myself. John puts it succinctly, ” He’s like the white rice nobody ordered.” It’s not fair. Jeb threw more millions at South Carolina certain of a surge. To cover his bases, Jeb brought out “The Closer” elsewhere known as his mother, Barbara. Babs threw Jeb a recommendation that sounds like she was trying to hook America up with an unappealing blind date. “He’s one of my favorite four sons.” Oh dear, that’s not all. Mom says he’s kind, a good son, and he married well too. This cannot be the same routine she trotted out for George!
John Oliver also observes that ‘an infallible source and an illogical object’ collided briefly. The Pope of course made mention of The Donald in a round-about way. “A person who thinks only about building walls. wherever they may be, and not of building bridges, is not Christian.” Trump, who can broach no criticism, even when it’s implied – isn’t one to turn the other cheek. Trump has now scheduled a grudge match with the Vatican. I’ll keep you posted.
