Daily Show Jessica Williams makes a fool of anual retentive Republican Peoria Mayor Jim Ardis for making a crime of online satire, parody and free speech.
Using Twitter with a clearly labeled “PARODY ACCOUNT” that claimed 50 followers, joker Jon Daniels made fun of the Republican Mayor with tweets about being a party animal.
In response the mayor – with the help of three local anual retentive Republican judges – sent the police to raid his home which he shared with three roommates.
All Daniel’s electronic equipment was confiscated and the police found a couple of ounces of pot in one of his roommates closets.
They had to search the roommates closets for Twitters.
Daniels, the pot smoking roommate and the pot smoking roommate’s girlfriend were arrested and handcuffed and taken to the police station for hours of interrogation. You know Republican freedom and liberty and all.
Sure this kind of anual retentive vengeance can be found in Republicans across the land, but what sets Mayor Ardis up as a fool and buffoon is calling a press conference to read the offending tweets that 50 people once read, outloud to millions of people listening on TV. It cost Peoria $225,000 and made Jon Daniel $125,000 before lawyer fees. Long version here: Mayor Sent Cops to Bust Twitter Parody
