How do these republicans keep a straight face? We know of course that they can’t campaign on real issues that concern most of us, and have to try and change the debate to lapel pins and pledges of allegiance, but how can they believe that pandering to 25% of the voting population, the so-called GOP base, is a winning strategy come November?
Sure, McCain has been the darling of the press ever since his failed run against the Bush-Rove naughty not nice politics way back in 2000, but since then he’s pretty much taken heart to Bush’s talking points, political positions nearly two thirds of Americans reject. Apart from a Florida or Ohio election fiasco, how can he possibly expect to win the presidency in November? Are we missing something?
Pondering this possibility I’ve come to the conclusion we’re not missing one damn thing. For too many years the American voting public has relied on the MSM to help form their opinions. Ever since Reagan killed the Fairness Doctrine back in the 80’s, the media has been consolidated to a mere seven corporations who have tried to control our thinking for the benefit of the already rich. But as we’ve seen of late, that can catch up with you as the middle class struggles and the internet takes over as the main news provider for more and more voters.
In a normal and fair world McCain shouldn’t stand a chance against anyone the democrats run for president, but this is not a normal or fair world as we’ve witnessed the past few election cycles. That said, I’m here to tell you we have a secret weapon and that’s McCain himself. If anyone suggested that the GOP could come up with a worse public speaker than Bush, I would have taken three steps backwards and run away a hundred miles an hour. As embarrassing as Bush is in a public forum, McCain is worse. His gaffes, flip-flops and monotone "my friends," is beyond tolerable to human ears. He’s everything none of us can stand listening to for even a few minutes.
We know the GOP is going to attempt every dirty trick and slimy ploy against Obama from here to November, that’s a given and we should expect no less. Only this time internet bloggers are going to keep the MSM’s feet to the fire whenever they parrot these garbage talking points. Jump on, it’s bound to be a fun ride.
