If you remember, I hung on to Hillary for President until the very last minute. Not because I had anything against Barack Obama, or did not believe him to be a fine man. I stuck with Hillary because she had a lifetime of experience not only effectively dealing with the Rabid Right, but she, like her husband, like Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush had that "gut thing" that Obama lacks. Whether loved or hated, she had an emotional connection with the American people.
That "gut thing" is what gave Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush two terms. Americans put that above reason, intelligence, education, being cool and even nice hair.
Sure it may result in a BJ in the coffee clutch or unnecessary wars killing hundreds of thousands, torture and an economic meltdown [please note that Republican moral equivalency], but as long as there is an emotional connection all is forgiven.
Our next president will have the "gut thing". Either Obama will learn it or be a one term President like Jimmy Charter.
I have nothing against either Carter or Obama, they are both fine presidents, the are smarter than most, honest and well meaning good men, but that is not what Americans look for in a President. They want someone to have a beer with, someone to feel their pain, someone who picks up dog poop. Stephen Colbert, George W Bush memoir a pile of dog crap
