The Daily show has to be right 100% of the time, Fox News only has to be right once.
Jon Stewart and the Daily Show erred last Friday by wrongly saying an unarmed black man was shot and killed by police in California. No, the unarmed black man was killed by police using a taser mixed with the PCP in his system. Seems the police did the right thing.
On Monday, as soon as he could, Jon Stewart apologized for the mistake. In the mean time Fox News, who is now known as the great defender of white cops who kill unarmed black men, went on the attack. As did white police, white prosecutors and white Republicans.
You know, if Fox News were to apologize for every piece of bullpoop they made each day, that’s about all they would be doing.
Have you heard that the majority of Americans say race relations are worse now than they were before President Obama took office? I warned of that very thing while campaigning for Hillary back when. Failing to explain to my fellow Yankee Democrats that the backlash of putting a BLACK family into the WHITE house could very well reboot the Civil War.
Well one things’ sure after the last few months of all this, There is no doubt whatsoever that Fox News and the GOP stand firmly with white people against black people. And to top that off, this week they kicked Hispanics in the balls repeatedly with their anti-immigration votes and lawsuits, and get this, knowing that they can’t even win. Just kicking them in the balls for the sheer joy of it.
Perhaps we need a new name for all that. The tired old cliches of “playing to the base”, “Tea Party Ugly”, “rural red”, “Southern Strategy”, “Real America” “Southern Heritage” are wearing thin. How about wrapping all that ugliness into just one general phrase?
