Megyn Kelly hosted actor, political commentator and author D.L. Hughley, whose book about the Obama years in the White House went by the wayside when Kelly became defensive about prior guest bigot, perjurer and proud racist Mark Fuhrman. The interview rocketed into racism and police killings with Kelly deflecting, telling Hugely to stay on topic, and accusing him of throwing out insults.
Hugely pointed out that there is a presumption of innocence with police. Kelly proved the point for him by claiming that Philando Castile’s girlfriend made up lies saying: “How can we even know what happened if we didn’t see him killed in the video?”
D.L. commented: “What I’ll tell you is this … it is not uncommon for you all to see one thing … the only place racism doesn’t exist is Fox News and the police department. That’s absolutely true.”
Never fear, Kelly defends the vast Fox audience: “Come on, come on, that’s insulting. You just insulted millions of people watching this channel.”
D.L.:”And you know what? I’m insulted by the things I hear on this network. I could care less about insulting people that insult me on a daily basis.”
This is a very small sample of the discussion, but it’s definitely one worth watching. Before it’s over, Hughely mutters ‘wow, wow’ while phrasing a retort, which Kelly jumps on like an angry school teacher upbraiding a fractious child: “Don’t WOW me!”
D.L. makes many good points about race, justice, police and violence – but Fox viewers will come away believing that black man insulted ‘Murica, Mark Fuhrman and that nice Megyn Kelly.
