To celebrate the five-year anniversary of Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” campaign, Jimmy Fallon and the First Lady perform Part Two of their wildly popular routine “The Evolution of Mom Dancing.” A host of celebrities have taken the First Lady’s “Give Me Five Challenge” and Jimmy isn’t about to be outdone. If the white MILF dancing beside Michelle Obama looks familiar, it’s Jimmy’s alter-ego, who danced herself (or himself) through the hilarious viral video “Mom Dancing Part One.”
Michelle Obama has had a difficult row to hoe – gardening pun unintended. While the First Lady’s program is voluntary and fun, the right wing attempted to spread the impression that we would all be taken on forced marches and fed turnip soup. By the way, no one on FOX mentioned the President’s Council on Youth Fitness (not fun) founded in 1955 by Eisenhower, continued by JFK, Johnson and his successors who gradually mellowed.. Initially, the program involved forced participation in school, including gruesome calisthenics, running and other tortures.
Mrs. Obama, it should be noted, has only made suggestions – not laws, visiting children’s groups and schools where she participates in activities that prove moving can be fun. In the six years Michelle Obama has devoted to the project people have come to know her, and the true goals of her program. Appearances on Ellen, Jimmy Fallon and other popular programs have shown people that she is a likeable, sincere and intelligent woman who cares. She’s frequently referred to as “America’s Coolest First Lady” – high praise indeed from a populace who felt at one time that vegetables were the enemy!
In the second installment of “Mom Dancing” the two girlfriends have worked out some mom-like choreography that you’re sure to use next time you hit the floor. You may only use it in the privacy of the laundry room floor, but as long as you’re movin’ it’s all good!
You’ll see soon-to-be classics as:
the “Getting a Bag From Your Collection of Plastic Bags Under the Sink”
the “I Can Still Do This Dance Because My Arms Are in Shape” will inspire envy.
The girls get just a tiny bit racy with: the “Shush and Tush”
This is just a small taste of what Jimmy and Michelle have worked up. By the time you’ve watched and laughed, or laughed and danced along, you’ll have ‘given five’ and had a ball!
