Mike Pence, David Duke and the 2nd Commandment

Mike Pence, David Duke and the 2nd Commandment“I would draw no more conclusion of that man’s [David Duke] support than I would to the fact that the father of the terrorist who killed 49 Americans was seen at a Hillary Clinton rally cheering her on and saying he was there because she was good on national security.” VP nominee Mike Pence. So many sheep so little time…

Let’s start at the bottom of this one and work up.

First the moral equivalency, that the father of the terrorist who killed 49 people likes Hillary Clinton for her policy on national security while on the other hand racist and NAZI David Duke likes Donald Trump’s insults of Mexicans, immigrants, African Americans and foreigners. Okay, equating racism to national security is the kind of thing these kind of people do because they know the media will give them a pass. I suppose in this election it is because there is so much other horrible stuff to comment on why bother with the thousand little lies.

But the kicker here is to equalize the loud ubiquitous support of the most well known racist in America to the support of the unknown unbespoken father of a murderer and get away with it.

Mike Pence is also an intolerant fundamentalist evangelical scripture spouting nitwit who has done all he can to cause hurt and pain to those 49 gay men and women killed in Orlando. But that aside, blaming a father for what a son does is deplorable. And where does that specific deplorable crap come from?

It comes from what this basket of deplorables want to chisel in to the granite beams of every courthouse in America. The second of the Ten Commandments.

1 “You shall have no other gods before[a] me.

2 “You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.

3 “You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.

4 “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

I list the first four commandments as a reminder that they are all about Him and only Him. God is very much like Donald Trump.

I recently read an interview with Barbra Bush who was asked why she and her husband are so well respected by most everyone. She said it was because they decided long ago not to talk about themselves in public. That got me not only thinking back to the people I liked most in my life but quite a bit of introspection.

Introspection – A thing Donald Trump has never heard of.
