One of the strangest parts of the recent Miss America pageant was the “Fun Facts” feature that popped up on-screen. Jimmy shares some of his favorites from the show. In past Miss America competitions, unintentional entertainment cropped up in the form of odd talent performances, costume fails and the occasional ditzy question and answer segment. The “fun facts” leave nothing to chance.
The “fun facts” which were superimposed over the contestants while they performed, were also a warning to everyone. When faced with endless paperwork, never assume an answer to a question will not come back to haunt you. I can only imagine that the contestant for whom “slapped a shark as a kid” was presented, must have written that life experience down in an exausted moment of hair spray fatigue. The ‘fun fact’ which flashed over the duo pictured on this page states, “Wants to get Al Roker’s job,” however, we’re left to wonder which partner of that team has designs on Roker’s gig.
The pageant was not without controversy…which in fact, still rages on in fierce social media debates. Miss America Kira Kazantsev “is a baby killer” according to some thoughtful Americans, who are never given to hyperbole or bullsh*t. Yep, she’s a wrong ‘un according to the Hobby Lobby contingent. Ms Kazantsev interned last year at her local Planned Parenthood affiliate, where she supported staff members in providing sex education in the community and at local schools. Conservative Americans are missing a concept supporting brain protein which, when present allows people to reason that birth control information and support equals very nearly zero abortions. Perhaps one day a cure will be found, but to quote comedian Ron White, “You can’t fix stupid.”
