I watched the new Cosmos last night. What a wonderful opening salvo to this long overdue update to Carl Sagan’s version that became so popular billions and billions of years ago. Well 34 years ago anyway.
The new Cosmos series is hosted by Neil deGrasse Tyson and produced by Carl Sagan’s widow Ann Druyan and Family Guy bad boy Seth McFarlane. All four names adding up to two agnostics and two atheists. The difference between the agnostic and atheist is mostly spelling and balls.
About 40% of the show was delegated to the 16th Century freethinker Giordano Bruno who publicly speculated that the Earth was a planet that revolved around the Sun. For saying such a thing Bruno spent the rest of his in jails, tortured and finally burned at the stake BY CHRISTIANS. Good to finally find a little bit of real war on Christianity rather than all that bogus Fox News Bill O’Reilly silliness.
Putting the animated anti-Christian Giordano Bruno propaganda piece of it aside, I couldn’t help but wonder how all the Fox News viewers and Primary Christians react to a TV show overflowing with smart people saying smart things about science, time, space, life and humanity? How do they adjust to seeing their entire worldview discounted by facts, science and reality? Do their brains sizzle? Does steam come out their ears? Do they throw things at the TV? Do the run to their computers to leave nasty comments to smart people all over the internet? It must unbearable for them.
Wait a minute. Cosmos was on opposite a new AX MEN episode on the History Channel and HUCKABEE on Fox News. They don’t watch anything made for smart people. It hurts their brains.
