It is not only Mars that sees the United States as a violent nation of gun crazy idiots, but most of the civilized areas of the Earth. Also it is not just the guns that people the world over find so upsetting in the land of the free. The only land of the free in the world so Americans say. If you have ever traveled with someone from other first world nations who has never been here before, you will find they are most disconcerted over three things. The guns and violence, the crazy Jesus crap everywhere they look, and the poverty/segregation so close together. But what they find most attractive is that going out to dinner or lunch or breakfast is a pittance compared to what they have to pay back home.
