The new year began much like a Stephen King novel in Beebe Arkansas. Revelers noticed the first of what would become approximate 5,000 black birds which fell lifeless to the ground before morning. Soon it would be discovered that one hundred miles west, over 100,000 Drum fish were dying just as quickly. The species is a bottom feeder living on insects and other fish.
There is no explanation, only speculation until the research results return. None of the theories truly sound valid so far. It has been thought that maybe a freak hailstorm or electrical storm affected the birds, or perhaps the stress of fireworks caused their hearts to stop beating, but what about 100,000 fish – at the same time?
