Onion News: 7 more Harry Potter films, sequels to go on and on and on

Final Minutes Of Last Harry Potter Movie To Be Split Into Seven Separate Films

I tried reading the first book to my kids at bedtime back when. Total failure. Neither they nor I had any interest. Contemporary boy witches? Since then I have heard numerous arguments that the Harry Potter series is better than the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Mostly concerning numbers on one sort or another. There is little argument on what is the greatest fantasy book of all time, or for that matter, the greatest ROCK AND ROLL band of all time.

In both cases there is a similar core issue at play. Both Tolkien and The Rolling Stones were created for adults. Harry Potter and Michael Jackson are made for children.

Which brings to mind the success of one of my literary heroes, Dr. Seuss. He wrote books that adults bought because they were so much fun reading to their children. In fact I am sure the Butter Batter Book was read by far more adults than children. In fact I found it recently in a closet and went through it once again.

This time not reading it as the cold war arms race silliness, but as the Republican/NRA small arms race insanity.

Who would have thought that 20 round clips for handguns would be so infused into our violent gun culture that after a Congresswoman and others are shot by such a combination, that even the president of the United States is politically AFRAID to say that 20 round clips for handguns is a foul, filthy, insane idea that is only popular in Somalia, Mordor, Hell and America.
