In his first televised interview since the election, Mitt Romney said his bid for the White House was doomed by his ability to effectively and honestly convey his opinions to minority voters. The truth of Romney’s campaign is expressed in this parody’ : “At the end of the day, we just articulated our ideas clearly and concisely to missions of African Americans and Latinos across the country.” “I just flat our failed at shielding those people from my policies.”
As the Republican Party scrambles to find a way to appeal to minority voters, maybe the best advice would be just stop trying to lure any part of the 47% at all. The entire enterprise has all of the sincerity of the star quarterback inviting Carrie to the prom in the Stephen King thriller. It’s false, empty, and in the words of a former Republican President: “There’s an old saying in Tennessee — I know it’s in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can’t get fooled again.” — GW Bush, Nashville, Tenn., Sept. 17, 2002
